COPIAPOA TENUISSIMA
Habitat: Chile
Description:
Copiapoa tenuissima is native to the coastal deserts of northern Chile, where it thrives on steep, rocky slopes with poor, mineral-rich soils. The region receives almost no rainfall, and the cactus relies on frequent coastal fogs for its water supply. Its thick root system allows it to efficiently utilize water in this harsh environment.
The stem is olive green, dark with some violet tinges, sometimes appearing almost black. Stems are slightly flattened and their surface is slightly warty.
The flowers are particularly beautiful, they are silky, bright yellow, and sweet-scented. Flowers appear at the top of the plant during spring and summer and are capable of blooming from new plants, often as early as two years from germination. The plant also produces viable seeds. The fruits are brownish-green with a slight woolly covering.
This cactus is exceptionally drought-tolerant and requires minimal care, making it an excellent choice for beginners. Its hardiness, compact size, and distinctive appearance make it ideal for decorative pots, windowsills, or rock gardens. Whether you're an experienced enthusiast or new to gardening, this resilient cactus adds beauty and adaptability to both indoor and outdoor spaces.
