Native to South Africa and loved around the world, this charming plant goes by many names—variegated money tree, Tricolor jade, or Crassula ovata variegata—but whatever you call it, it’s pure joy in plant form. With its thick, spoon-shaped leaves striped in creamy white and soft green, this jade blushes pink in bright sun, giving it a sweet, almost candy-colored look. Slow-growing but wonderfully long-lived, it can stay with you for decades up to 70 years and eventually mature into a beautifully branched shrub up to 3–6 feet tall, making it a true heirloom plant.
In late winter to early spring, mature plants may surprise you with clusters of tiny, star-shaped flowers in white with soft pink tones—like a delicate finishing touch.
