ECHINOPSIS SUBDENUDATA
Habit: Bolivia and Paraguay
Description:
Echinopsis subdenudata, also known as the "Easter Lily cactus", is a small, globular cactus native to South America. They’re incredibly adaptable, being found in multiple biomes: grasslands, shrubland, even forests. This adaptability is what makes them so well suited to container culture and beginners; as long as they have good drainage (and sometimes, even if they don’t), they’ll carry on.
It is popular for its fuzzy, white areoles and nearly spineless form, especially when grown on a windowsill or in partial shade. Each spring and summer, it produces large, fragrant, white flowers with slender stems and a slightly swollen base where seeds develop. These blooms, sometimes reaching up to 20 cm, make a striking display, often completely white with hints of reddish-orange on the outer petals when grown in bright sunlight.
Thanks to its compact size, Echinopsis subdenudata is ideal for windowsill, on your office desk or in a cactus garden; offering a charming, low-maintenance addition to any space and a spectacular floral show when in bloom.
