Description:

Ferocactus glaucescens, native to the Gulf and Northeast of Mexico, thrives in limestone hills and dry forests at elevations up to 2,300 meters. This unique, slow-growing cactus is a perfect addition to any plant collection.

It’s a globe-shaped succulent that can grow up to 55 cm tall and 50 cm wide. As it matures, it develops a column-like shape. The plant is covered well-defined, slightly wavy ribs, and its colour ranges from a greyish-blue to a soft, green shade.

In late spring to early summer, it produces stunning, funnel-shaped flowers. The bright yellow petals are adorned with beautiful purple stripes, and the flowers last for a long period, making it a showstopper in your garden or home.

This cactus is easy to care for and grows slowly, making it a great choice for beginners or those who want a low-maintenance, long-lasting plant. It’s perfect for adding a touch of beauty and uniqueness to any space.

Care Guide

Light
Full light sun exposure but is recommended to avoid direct sun in the hottest periods. The plant does not like temperatures below 6°C so it needs to be placed indoors in the coldest periods. Indoors, place it in the sunniest spot, preferably a west- or south-facing window.

Water
Water every 2–3 weeks in spring and summer, adjusting based on temperature and humidity, ensuring that the soil is completely dry before watering again. In winter, reduce watering to allow the plant to enter dormancy.

Soil
Soil should be mixed with pumice, clay and loam to allow drainage and prevent the root rot, as the plant is prone to it indeed. Remember to use a perforating pot to drain excess water. Watering can be done regularly in Spring and Summer.
