GYMNOCALYCIUM MIHANOVICHII
Habit: Nursery cultivar
Description:
Gymnocalycium mihanovichii, also known as Grafted Moon Cactus is a unique, eye-catching cactus known for its vibrant, colourful appearance. This grafted cactus features a ball-shaped top, which sits on a green Hylocereus rootstock. The top portion of the cactus lacks chlorophyll, revealing its natural yellow pigmentation. Since chlorophyll is necessary for photosynthesis, the graft can only survive due to its grafting onto the Hylocereus, which provides the necessary nutrients.
Flowers are white and pink and bloom in spring. When the plant is young, it blooms freely and almost continuously throughout the year, with each blossom lasting at least twelve days. After blooming, the flowers transition to a grey-green or pinkish-red hue.
With its soft, almost non-existent spines, it’s a user-friendly plant that’s easy to handle. It’s especially suited for a decorative pot or a sunny windowsill.
Please note: The image is representative, the plant may vary slightly since each plant is unique.
