Mammillaria Bocasana 'Multilanata'

Habitat: Mexico

Description:

Mammillaria bocasana cv. 'Multilanata' also known as the Powder Puff Cactus is a striking cultivar recognized for its dense covering of silky white hairs, giving it a soft, cotton ball-like appearance. While similar to Mammillaria bocasana cv. splendens, this variety is slightly less woolly but equally charming.

Native to arid, rocky environments, this adaptable cactus thrives in a range of settings, making it an excellent ornamental choice for homes, offices, and gardens alike. It forms compact clusters of round stems covered with delicate white hairs and often produces charming rings of cream to pale pink flowers in late spring to early summer. These dainty blooms add to its visual appeal and are a favourite among cactus enthusiasts.

Ideal for beginners, Mammillaria bocasana cv. 'Multilanata' requires minimal care and is well-suited to container gardens, rock gardens, and xeriscapes focused on water conservation. Its soft spines, long lifespan, and ability to store water efficiently make it a resilient and low-maintenance plant. With proper care, it can live for decades and bloom abundantly year after year.

An added bonus — this cactus produces small edible fruits that are safe for birds, pets, and even horses, making it a pet-friendly option for plant lovers.
