Parodia Haselbergii

Habitat: Brazil

Description:

Parodia haselbergii, commonly known as the "Scarlet Ball Cactus," is renowned for its stunning scarlet-red flowers and distinctive appearance. The cactus is adorned with fluffy white dots and delicate, wispy spines, giving it a unique and attractive look. Typically, it grows to a diameter of 6-8 cm.

In early spring, Parodia haselbergii produces vibrant orange to red flowers that can last for up to one month. During peak blooming, the flowers often cluster so densely that they create a striking, vibrant display. Typically, the plant produces up to eleven flowers during a single bloom, although cultivated plants may produce even more. At times, the blossoms can be so abundant that they form a single large, spectacular flower. After blooming, the flowers give way to small, fleshy fruits containing brown to black seeds.

This cactus is easy to care for and highly drought-tolerant. It thrives in bright light, but it should be protected from intense sun and extreme heat. While it can tolerate brief exposure to frost, it is essential to avoid overwatering to prevent damage.

Due to its low-maintenance nature and visual appeal, Parodia haselbergii is an excellent choice for beginners. Its compact size and unique appearance make it ideal for decorative pots, windowsills, or rock gardens. Whether you're an experienced plant enthusiast or a novice, this cactus will add both beauty and adaptability to any indoor or outdoor space.
