PARODIA SCOPA F. SPLENDENS
Habitat: Brazil
Description:
Parodia scopa f. splendens is a cultivated variety of Parodia scopa, distinguished primarily by its brighter silvery-white and red spines. Aside from this difference, it shares all the same characteristics as the standard Parodia scopa, including stem size and shape, spine count, and flower size and colour, making the two plants nearly indistinguishable.
In summer and autumn, this cactus produces large, open-faced butter-yellow flowers that emerge from the cactus's crown. These vibrant blooms are relatively large compared to the plant's size and attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, adding vitality to the surroundings. This species is fast-growing and, under optimal conditions, will form clusters. After flowering, it produces small, dry, papery fruits.
Even without its striking blooms, Parodia scopa f. splendens remains an eye-catching cactus. Its compact size and unique appearance make it an ideal choice for decorative pots, windowsills, or rock gardens. Whether you're an experienced gardener or a beginner, this resilient cactus enhances both indoor and outdoor spaces with its charm and adaptability.
