PARODIA WARASII
Habitat: Brazil
Description:
A stunning addition to any collection, Parodia warasii, is a dark green, globular cactus native to the rocky hills of South Brazil. It forms a neat, spherical shape covered with soft, golden-yellow spines arranged along its ridges, creating a beautiful contrast with the dark green body. Over time, it can reach up to 20cm tall and 15cm wide, eventually producing multiple heads.
In summer, the open-faced large silky yellow flowers grace the plant crown, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies, infusing your garden with vibrant life. Typically, the plant produces up to eleven flowers during a single bloom, although cultivated plants may produce even more. At times, the blossoms can be so abundant that they form a single large, spectacular flower. After blooming, the flowers give way to small, fleshy fruits containing brown to black seeds.
Parodia warasii thrives in warm climates or bright windowsills making it an ideal houseplant, particularly attractive in ceramic pots due to its neat, globular shape that looks like a ball.
It is this drought-tolerant cactus making it ideal for beginners and experienced collectors alike. Its compact form and striking appearance make it a unique and elegant addition to any plant collection.
Please note: The image is representative, the plant may vary slightly since each plant is unique.
