REBUTIA KRAINZIANA
Habit: Argentina
Description:
Rebutia marsoneri 'Krainziana' is an appealing dwarf globular cactus characterized by small white areoles and delicate, short, and soft white spines. The cactus has a dark purple stem, which adds to its striking appearance. It typically reaches a height of up to 4 inches and grows in a clumping habit.
Rebutia cacti are popular for their large colourful flowers that open widely during the day and last for several days. Well-grown plants often flower in mass, the flower sometimes completely covering the plant and producing a spectacular display. In late spring, Rebutia krainziana produces vibrant orange to red flowers, which tend to bloom more abundantly and for a longer duration compared to many other cacti.
Generally easy to grow and relatively fast, these cacti do best in a container. Repot annually when young, then every two years. This hardy cactus thrives in a range of conditions, particularly preferring warmer, frost-free winters. It grows well outdoors in full sun or bright shade but requires protection during extreme heat. Indoors, it needs a very bright location to maintain its shape and encourage flowering.
