REBUTIA MUSCULA
Habitat: Bolivia
Description:
Rebutia muscula, often called the “fireball cactus” for its vibrant orange flowers, is a small cactus that forms low, compact mounds covered in dense, white spines. These spines protect the plant from extremes of sun and cold while giving it a soft, furry appearance.
Flowers emerge from a young age at the base of each head, with a single plant producing dozens in a blooming season, all throughout summer, creating the effect of a fiery crown of flowers. After flowering, it sets small green to orange-red fruits containing tiny black seeds that can be propagated.
To thrive, it requires full sun or light shade and careful watering, allowing the soil to dry between waterings to maintain a compact form and strong, dense spines.
Easy to grow, drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, it thrives with minimal care, making it an ideal addition to any home or garden. Its compact size and striking appearance make it perfect for pots, windowsills, or as part of a cacti garden. Whether you're a seasoned plant enthusiast or just starting your collection, this plant will effortlessly brighten your space. Its unique beauty and adaptability make it a must-have for both indoor and outdoor settings.
