STEPHANOCEREUS LEUCOSTELE
Habitat: Brazil
Description:
Stephanocereus is a genus with only two species, both found in Bahia, Brazil. One of these is the Stephanocereus leucostele, also called the "Gold Torch cactus." It's a unique, low-maintenance cactus that's great for beginners. This cactus is tough and can live for many decades, adding a long-lasting exotic touch to your space. It can grow up to 20 feet tall and has multiple stems at the base. Its body is green, with white and yellow-gold spines.
The cactus flowers at night, with white, tube-shaped blooms that grow from a special part of the cactus called a cephalium. After blooming, the cactus continues to grow, leaving a ring where the flowers were. Its fruits are fleshy, blue, and have dried remnants of the flower parts on them.
This cactus is perfect for a large cactus or succulent garden. It also makes a great feature plant in a big container or a sunny courtyard. It can be grown indoors as well, as long as it gets plenty of sunlight.
