Description:

×Aporophyllum is a hybrid genus of epiphytic cacti resulting from crosses between two different species (Aporocactus) and (Epiphyllum). These hybrids are characterized by their trailing stems and vibrant, showy flowers, making them popular choices for hanging baskets and decorative displays.

×Aporophyllum cacti typically exhibit a trailing or cascading growth pattern, with stems that can reach several feet in length. The stems are often cylindrical or flattened appearance. Fast-growing and perfect for beginners, this cactus thrives with minimal attention, making it an excellent addition to any home or garden. These plants are often grown indoors in containers, where they can be trained to climb or trail along a trellis or support.

Flower blooms in spring, producing large, pinkish-purple flowers that generally remain open for 3–4 days.

Care Guide

Light
They prefer shade over direct sun and appreciate increased humidity for healthier growth. Though will handle sunny locations without fear of sunburn. They are resilient to cold temperatures, ideally kept around 5°C in winter. If grown indoors, place them near a south or west-facing window where they can receive plenty of light.

Water
During the growing season, which is typically spring and summer, you can water your cactus every 2-3 weeks. In contrast, during the dormant period in winter, you'll want to reduce watering to once every 4-6 weeks.

Soil
Thrive in well-drained soil, preferring a mix of heath-mould, siliceous sand, perlite, or vermiculite. They can also tolerate mineral-rich and less acidic soil compositions.
